The following data reflect the specifications of STEM and Diversity initiatives. For official Boise State University data, please consult the Office of Institutional Research (IR). IR’s website is https://ir.boisestate.edu.

The data on this page use the NSF LSAMP (National Science Foundation, Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation) definition of STEM effective 2015.  A list of the Classification of Instructional Programs (CIP) codes and disciplines included is available at https://www.lsamp.org/help/help_stem_cip_2015.cfm. STEM Education majors are not included.

Line graph of STEM degrees from academic year 2013-2014 through 2017-2018. Bachelor degrees increased from 402 in AY2014 to 591 in AY2018. Master's degrees initially declined, starting at 63 in AY2014 and dropping to 57 in AY2015 but then continually climbed to 85 in AY2018. Doctorate degrees fluctuated with a high of 18 in AY2014, 2 in both AY2015 and AY2016, 14 in AY2017, an 10 in AY2018. The total number of STEM degrees grew from 480 in AY2014 to 685 in AY2018.

Students who receive degrees in both a STEM major and an Other major within one academic year are counted once per Major Type and Degree category.

Line graph of STEM enrollment from Fall 2014 through Fall 2018. Undergraduate enrollment increased from 3,770 in Fall 2014 to 3,858 in Fall 2015 but then started declining each year:  3,847 in Fall 2016,  3,644 in Fall 2017, and 3,477 in Fall 2018. Graduate enrollment continually increased from 291 in Fall 2014 to 398 in Fall 2018. The total number of STEM majors grew from 4,061 in Fall 2013 to 4,179 in Fall 2015, then from 4,187 in Fall 2016 but dropped to 3,999 in Fall 2017 and again to 3,875 in Fall 2018.
